We have found to get a lot of activity whilst investigating at this location, unfortunately as Valentine's Mansion is being renovated we may be unable to investigate here again.
Information on Valentine's Mansion
Valentines Mansion was built around 1696-7. It is considered by English Heritage to be "of outstanding architectural or historic interest or of great importance to the nation's built heritage" and is Grade II* listed. Not a grand building, it was a family home for a gentleman of high status.
At present the building is empty. This, and the poor internal condition, has led English Heritage to include the building on its At Risk Register. It is opened occasionally for specific functions. Its use is limited, however, by its internal condition and better facilities are essential before the Mansion can be fully utilised.
There has been significant local interest in the restoration of the building over recent years. In June 2006, the Heritage Lottery Fund informed Redbridge Council, the present owners, that it had gained a 'Stage Two Pass' of £1,956,000 towards the cost of restoring Valentines.
Together with the £1.2 million being contributed by the London Borough of Redbridge itself, the Council now has the funds needed to restore the Mansion to full use. Work is expected to begin in mid-2007 and to be completed by early 2009.
Valentines Mansion is located in a beautiful park setting, Valentines Park, near Gants Hill in the London Borough of Redbridge.
